I feel, that booking your Engagement Session with your Wedding Photographer is one of your top priorities when planning your wedding. The Engagement Session is a great way for you to get to know your photographer as a person, and for your photographer to get to know you better as couple. Win, win!!! Not only do you get to know your photographer a little bit more personally, it is also a chance to do a bit of a test run of what to expect on your big day. More about the importance of the Engagement Session in another blog post 😉!
Your Engagement Session went amazing, your preview has been published on your photographer’s blog and you are in LOVE all of your portraits. But, what exactly can you do with all those fabulous images? Here are 8 ways you can put your engagement photos to use.
1. Save the Dates
One of the most popular reasons to have engagement photos done is to use them for save the date cards. Adding that person touch to your Save the Date cards really gets your friends and family excited about your upcoming wedding. Not only does this remind guests about your wedding, they act as a special little keepsake for your invited guests. I can’t tell you how many refrigerator galleries I have perused through the years!
If you are skipping the save the date card and just sending our invitations you can use your engagement photos for that as well. There are many different components to a wedding invitation from the actual invitations, RSVP, menu cards, directions and hotel accommodations lists to the stamps, envelopes, and address labels. There are many places you can use your professional engagement pictures to give your wedding invitations a more personal touch.
3. Guest Book
Creating a customized guest book is a great way to display your engagement photos. Some couples choose to keep their guest book simple with just an image on the cover and blank pages inside for guests to sign. Or I have seen some couples go all out and made their book a bit a little more personal. Couples have included pages in their sign in book that gives their guests a little story to read about how the couple met, fell in love and end up saying 'I Do”. They have turned out so cute, even I have found myself enthralled by their story!
4. Photos for Your Home
There is no better way to start the new life you will be sharing than decorating your new home with your photos. Having your engagement images hanging on the walls in frames around your home is the perfect way to remember the special bond you two share. This is also a great way to stay motivated during the stressful parts of the wedding planning process. It is a visual reminder of “why” you are doing all of this hard work.
5. Displaying at Your Wedding
There are many ways you can use your engagement photos to decorate your reception venue, so feel free to get creative! Here are some of the ideas I have enjoyed. Couples have made large prints to line the walls of their venue, making a very nice visual display. Others have had a few framed and allowed their guests to sign the photo or photo mat, in place a guest book. Another popular idea is to display different photos on the guest tables, making each table a bit unique from the others and giving the guests a conversation starter!
6. Photo Montage for Reception or Rehearsal Dinner
Having a sideshow playing as your guests enter the reception area or even to show at your rehearsal dinner is a great way to get your guest talking and adds a little sentimental value. Including your Engagement Portraits is just another way to bring it all together. After all, that was most likely one of your final steps that lead to your wedding day!
7. Party Favor/Gift for Guests
Labels, gift bags/tags, and even t-shirts can all be made with your image on them. You'll want your guests to take home something special to remember your wedding day by. Even if getting a coffee mug isn't something you think your guests would appreciate, you can still add your photo to just about any keepsake you wish.
8. Social Media Images
The best way to use your engagement photos is to have them as your profile pictures on your social media accounts. What better way to not only show off your stunning images but to also let everyone know you two will be tying the knot! In addition, there is nothing your photographer will appreciate more, than you sharing all of their hard work on your social media accounts! Not only does this promote their business, it also lets them know that you value all of the time and effort they have put into making your experience with them enjoyable.
