Huntin', Fishin' and Lovin;' EVERY DAY! That pretty much is the best description of my son Tyler! You will rarely find this kid inside the house. He is always out riding his 4-wheeler or taking care of our animals and crops! He loves tending to our veggies and then selling them in our farm stand. He will also happily nurse a sick sheep patiently back to health. He is so proud when he is able to grow some of our favorite vegetables from seed and put them in a fresh salad or gill them up! . He also planted a row of my favorite flowers (sunflowers) and kept a fresh one in my vase in the living room every day until they were gone. It was so incredibly sweet of him!
When I say Tyler loves hunting and fishing, I am not exaggerating. This is the first year of school that he didn't have a complete melt down during the first week because "school was interrupting his fishing time." He is generally a happy-go-lucky kid, but that first week of school with him was almost unbearable. I have also had to make a rule this year that I thought I would never have to make....Tyler is no longer allowed to leave chipmunk tails in a glass on my front porch. Let's just say I was a bit disappointed when I discovered they were not caterpillars, LOL!
This Winter, Tyler has taken an interest in Ice Fishing and tying flies for Fly Fishing in the Spring. It was great to have some fresh fish to eat in the middle of winter. Although, I think he just liked having time away from his sister, LOL! He has also picked this lamb as his favorite this year and included it in his birthday portraits. Just FYI, he did take a pair of deer horns and duck-taped them onto the lamb, because he thought it would make for a "cool" picture. He also keeps his Dad and I busy watching him play sports. Tyler loves soccer and basketball and doesn't bat an eye when it comes to put in the practice.
I love you so much Tyler and I feel so blessed every day that I get to watch you growing from a boy into a young man. Your compassion and determination will serve you well in your adulthood. Your ability to focus on your own values and not what others' think you should value is a trait that I truly wished I possess. It is a gift that I hope you are able to carry with you always, because it will allow you to accomplish anything you set your mind to. I love that although you get annoyed with your sister, you still take the time to teach her new things when she is interested. I hope you never feel that we pressure you to be just like Hunter, but I love that you look-up to him and want to spend time with him, just being boys. I hope all of your birthday wishes come true and can't wait to see what the next year has in store for you. Love always, Mom.
